Saw The Alarm last year in a very small lub/pub, touring with Spear Of Destiny and The Mighty Wah.
Also worth checking out is Dead Men Walking, a sorta supergroup made up of,
Mike Peters - Alarm
Kirk Brandon - Spear Of Destiny
Slim Jim Phantom - Stray Cats
Glen Matlock - Sex Pistols
Billy Duffy - The Cult
and one of the Big Country guys who's name escapes me.
Very good and well worth checking out!!!

Yup, that was pretty fucking awesome! It was also one of the coolest episodes to see how they fell apart, and to see the honesty. You also got all sides of the story, and I think the viewer, like the band, actually was able to understand it all and find that nobody was the badguy. In the beginning, Peters seemed like a dick for quitting like that, but once he spoke, and you saw him with the band, you realized that they were all VERY cool guys.

As for the performance, DAMN!!! They sounded amazing! Granted, two of them are still playing, but Eddie nailed all the parts vocally also! I was also REALLY impressed with the audience! Amazing that after all this time they knew all the adlibs that became standard for the audience to do. That was also the most "into it" audience I have seen yet on one of these things! Talk about RABID fans! I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope that they put that one onto DVD with the full interviews and the full show. Then I hope that they put out a CD of the show! I'll buy two of each, just for the support.

I then watched the Frankie episode. I was expecting to come away from it thinking Holly Johnson was a jerk, due to all the stuff I read after the first airing. But honestly, they all seemed like very cool guys! I actually understand his stance on it, and think he voiced himself well enough. He was on such horrible outs with the band, that to just show up to see them all was a HUGE step. I would also lay money on it that now after seeing the show, I would bet that they will contact VH1 and go ahead with it. If they want a little extra time to get in shape musically,, give them that time.

Extreme is still the most horrid example yet.

<font size="3" face="Arial">OUCH!!! Mike Peters, in his days, had more than his share of women followers! But the music, oh that music! Listened to "Strength" on my way into work this morning, and it is still perfect! After all of these years of hearing it (almost 20 now!!!), it still is an incredible album!

It was very amazing to see them on stage again...and I agree with Carl that this episode had to be the best VH1 Reunited...and the fans were so into the show which lacked in the other episodes.
Saw the Frankie Goes To Hollywood one too...
I think the guys turned out to be pretty cool and it's understandable that Holly Johnson wnted more time to rehearse and then possibly put the show on...So who knows what will happen?
Tonight is Squeeze...and that one should be pretty cool too...me being a Squeeze fan also.

Never liked Squeeze myself, but my sister was a HUGE fan, so I know all of the songs. I will still watch it though, I am sure. The wife also likes some of their stuff.

Today is the first day VH1 will be airing The Alarm episode of Bands
Reunited. (at 11:00 AM and 10:00 PM in the USA). It's pretty cool really. After operating this web site for almost
10 years now, and watching my favorite band fade from the public light (even
while its various members continued to create the best music of their
careers) I can't believe that this 1 hour TV program (42 minutes) will
feature my all-time favorite band.

For those who don't know, here is a little history behind the "show" part of
Bands Reunited and The Alarm. In mid-October 2003, Mike Peters was "
ambushed" for the show after a gig with Dead Men Walking (a band that
includes Billy Duffy from The Cult, Slim Jim Phantom from The Stray Cats,
and Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols among its members). Richard Blade had
called Mike weeks before, weeks before claiming to be writing a book about 80's bands,
and wanted an interview. credited as Talent Producer, to get several bands to let their guard down long enough for Ameer to swoop in. After some coaxing Mike agreed to the reunion. Apparently he was the last guy approached. The date for the show was set for October 28th and the band actually met only one day before the show for rehearsal, just as on the show. The bands? members were flown-in and put-up in hotels, but were not paid to perform..

The venue was filled with Alarm fans. In-fact, the day before the show one of the producers frantically called me, trying to find a way to limit the guest list because there were far too many fans requesting tickets than the venue could hold. What you see on the show is a crowd of real Alarm fans, not the ?rent-a-crowd? looking bunch that seemed to creep into some the performances in the series.

While there does not seem to be a tour with the original band in the future, the show does seem to have helped patch-up friendships that were strained over the past 25 years. Last week Dave Sharp played two shows (one acoustics and one with his new band, Soul Company) at Mike Peters? annual Alarm/Solo music celebration, The Gathering (now in its 12th year) in Wales. It?s a big step to have both guys share the same stage with their new bands on the same night.
